چکیده
In this paper we consider eigenvalue problems on time scales involving linear Hamiltonian dynamic systems. We give conditions that ensure that the eigenvalues of the problem are isolated and bounded below. The presented results are applicable also to Sturm-Liouville dynamic equations of higher order, and further special cases of our systems are linear Hamiltonian differential systems as well as linear Hamiltonian difference systems.

An Eigenvalue Problem for Linear Hamiltonian Dynamic Systems
In this paper we consider eigenvalue problems on time scales involving linear Hamiltonian dynamic systems. We give conditions that ensure that the eigenvalues of the problem are isolated and bounded below. The presented results are applicable also to Sturm–Liouville dynamic equations of higher order, and further special cases of our systems are linear Hamiltonian differential systems as well as...
متن کاملOscillation and Spectral Theory for Linear Hamiltonian Systems with Nonlinear Dependence on the Spectral Parameter
In this paper, we consider linear Hamiltonian differential systems which depend in general nonlinearly on the spectral parameter and with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Our results generalize the known theory of linear Hamiltonian systems in two respects. Namely, we allow nonlinear dependence of the coefficients on the spectral parameter and at the same time we do not impose any controllability...
متن کاملSymmetric Three-Term Recurrence Equations and Their Symplectic Structure
We revive the study of the symmetric three-term recurrence equations. Our main result shows that these equations have a natural symplectic structure, that is, every symmetric three-term recurrence equation is a special discrete symplectic system. The assumptions on the coefficients in this paper are weaker and more natural than those in the current literature. In addition, our result implies th...
متن کاملHigher-Order Calculus of Variations on Time Scales
Calculus of variations on time scales (we refer the reader to Section 2 for a brief introduction to time scales) has been introduced in 2004 in the papers by Bohner [2] and Hilscher and Zeidan [4], and seems to have many opportunities for application in economics [1]. In both works of Bohner and Hilscher&Zeidan, the Euler-Lagrange equation for the fundamental problem of the calculus of variatio...
متن کاملOverview of Weyl–Titchmarsh Theory for Second Order Sturm–Liouville Equations on Time Scales
In this paper we present an overview of the basic Weyl–Titchmarsh theory for second order Sturm–Liouville equations on time scales. We construct the m(λ)function, the Weyl solution, and the Weyl disk. We justify the terminology “disk” by its geometric properties, show explicitly the coordinates of the center of the disk, and calculate its radius. We show that the dichotomy regarding the squarei...
